Sina Technology News, December 28, Beijing time morning news, according to reports, last week, the California Attorney General and 12 state officials sued Wal-Mart, because Wal-Mart is suspected of illegal disposal of electronic and hazardous waste, endangering the local landfill.

In the statement, the California Attorney General claimed that Wal-Mart violated local environmental laws and illegally disposed of garbage including lithium batteries, alkaline batteries, pesticide sprays, aerosol cans, and LED bulbs.

The California Department of Justice believes that Wal-Mart’s illegal disposal of garbage weighs 159,600 pounds (about 72 tons) per year, which is more than 1 million pieces.

This is not the first time this has happened. In 2010, Wal-Mart reached an agreement with the California Attorney General's Office to resolve the problem of illegal garbage disposal. Wal-Mart compensated US$25 million.
