Ukrainian officials say they have used $15 million in cryptocurrency donations to buy military supplies

According to the US Bloomberg News, on the 4th local time, Ukraine’s Deputy Minister of Digital Transformation Alexei Boenyakov said in an interview with the media in an undisclosed location that they have spent $15 million worth of cryptocurrency donations for the purchase of military supplies, including a batch of bulletproof vests handed over to the Ukrainian military that day.

According to the report, Bornyakov revealed that the Ukrainian government has received about $50 million worth of cryptocurrency so far, and it is expected that the amount of cryptocurrency received will double in the next two or three days. Most of them are Bitcoin and Ethereum.

According to reports, the Ukrainian Ministry of Digital Transformation, which was established two years ago with 250 staff, has recently been busy scouring Europe and the United States for suppliers of everything from bulletproof vests to food, bandages and night vision goggles. About 40 percent of suppliers are willing to accept cryptocurrencies, and the rest of payments will be made in euros and U.S. dollars, Boynyakov said.
