Report: The number of virtual currency crime cases and blockchain security incidents is increasing year by year

On March 2, Zhifan Technology and Zhifan College recently released the "2021 Blockchain and Virtual Currency Crime Trend Research Report".

The report pointed out that in 2021, the domestic outflow of funds will reach 223 billion yuan; the number of virtual currency crime cases is increasing year by year. The number of cases related to Bitcoin and Ethereum has a decreasing trend, while the number of cases related to USDT continues to grow rapidly.

Among the judgment documents involving virtual currency, the most common causes are fraud, theft, and aiding trust. Overall, the number of blockchain security incidents has been on the rise over the past few years. From the perspective of the distribution of major areas of security incidents, the DeFi field will be the hardest hit area in the blockchain security field in 2021, accounting for as high as 54%. Project runaway and smashing scams, contract loopholes, and theft of private keys have become three typical blockchain security incidents.
