Japanese man arrested for bitcoin cyber scam in Thailand

On March 18, the police in Chonburi Province, Thailand held a press conference to announce the detection of a bitcoin online fraud case, and arrested a 43-year-old Japanese man Yang and five Thais who participated in the fraud.

It is understood that the Chonburi police received a report from a 58-year-old Thai man who said he was introduced into a scam to invest in bitcoin online, resulting in a total loss of 1,452,000 baht.

The police then conducted an investigation based on the clues and arrested the suspect Yang and his accomplices at a residence in Sriracha County, Chonburi Province.

According to Thai media, Yang argued to the police after his arrest that he was not the administrator of the above-mentioned bitcoin network investment website, but was just looking for customers and hired Thais to open fake accounts for the website to collect money. The police have arrested him and his accomplices. He was taken to the police station for further investigation, and Yang and his associates were initially charged with joint fraud and violation of the Computer Crime Law.
