Head of the Metaverse Department of Polygon Studios: NFT may subvert the fashion industry

Brian Trunzo, head of the metaverse division at Polygon Studios, has high hopes for the digital fashion industry. With the adoption of blockchain technology in the fashion industry, Trunzo believes that NFTs will not be limited to rare items.

In an interview with Decrypt, Brian Trunzo, head of the metaverse division at Polygon Studios, said that he and some other analysts believe that the fashion industry in the metaverse will surpass the real world, and that there are many opportunities in this area.

"The fashion industry is a $2 trillion economy. Many analysts, myself included, believe that digital fashion will one day revolutionize the traditional fashion industry...it's just a huge opportunity."

Several mainstream fashion brands have begun to explore this area, which is considered to be the next theme of the bull market.

In December 2021, Nike acquired RTFKT Studios, a creation platform focused on creative sneaker NFTs.

At the time, Nike President and CEO John Donahoe said: "Our plan is to invest in the RTFKT brand, serve and grow their innovation and creative communities, and expand Nike's digital fashion presence and capabilities."

The acquisition comes after Nike partnered with Roblox to create the virtual 3D world NIKELAND.

Brian Trunzo believes that “anything that can become an NFT will become an NFT.” He pointed out that users don’t have to worry about the unique characteristics of NFTs that will prevent certain segments from adopting them.

"It's not necessarily a scarce commodity, but most fashion products have the potential to be NFTized," Trunzo said.

Polygon Studios operates NFT games and metaverse projects on the Polygon network. Recently, Polygon revealed that they have a partnership with Poriverse.

Poriverse is the first NFT game that allows users to lend and trade NFTs. It's clear that virtual reality similar to that depicted in movies like Ready Player One is becoming a reality.

Trunzo believes that for this to happen, “everything in these worlds has to be an NFT.”

With the rise of games like Axie Infinity and the rise of NFTs listed on traditional auction houses, the concept of NFT games and the metaverse dominated the Crypto space.
