Brett Harrison, president of FTX US, announced on Twitter Friday that the company has begun accepting users to join a waitlist for its upcoming stock trading platform.

FTX US, the U.S. subsidiary of cryptocurrency exchange FTX, specializes in spot trading of cryptocurrencies, but has been planning to expand into other markets, including through the acquisition of Ledger Holdings in cryptocurrency derivatives.

Last month, rival cryptocurrency exchange eToro announced that it would offer trading in stocks and exchange-traded funds (ETFs) to its U.S. clients, and BitStamp also disclosed plans to do so. At the same time, many apps primarily aimed at stock trading, such as Robinhood, have struggled to offer cryptocurrency trading.

Harrison tweeted in January that FTX.US is actively working on a stock trading service, and previewed some of the features it hopes to offer.

Last month, FTX US raised $400 million from investors including Multicoin Capital, Paradigm, SoftBank and Temasek at an $8 billion valuation. It intends to use the funds to create new lines of business and explore strategic investments and acquisitions
