June 2, 2021 - The Metaplex Foundation, founded by Everstake with strategic backing from Solana Labs and FTX, announces the launch of Metaplex, an NFT marketplace and decentralized on-chain protocol for NFT minting and auctioning. Powered by the Solana blockchain, the Metaplex protocol and application framework provides critical infrastructure for the Metaverse, giving creators, artists, and brands the tools to easily launch a custom, community-facing NFT marketplace. Through decentralized auctions, Metaplex transforms creators into traditional middlemen. Artists can launch their Metaplex store as easily as they can on a WordPress site without needing to understand underlying smart contracts or blockchain coding.
