The U.S. Justice Department said Tornado Cash co-founder Roman Storm was doing much more than just writing code for the service.Authorities said he knew Tornado Cash was being used to launder money after hacking attacks, but continued to promote it for profit.Storm kept the relay running, paid for website hosting, gas for transactions and did not implement AML verification.Storm also sent the other Tornado Cash founders a link to a news story that said the FBI was attributing the Ronin hack to the Lazarus group.At the time, he wrote the following: “Guys, we’re screwed.”After sanctioning Tornado Cash, developers began immediately selling and transferring large amounts in TORN tokens.Storm also urged the team to create new wallets and cid phrases to hide the money from TORN sales.
