Fans were quick to question the statement, with Twitter user "cruelrush" also raising environmental concerns about NFTs, while other fans threatened to boycott the K-pop icon:

"We are willing to actively support Sunmi, but not at the expense of the environment. NFTs are bad. We want to support and interact with Sunmi by buying her albums and songs. Go to her shows. We hope there are more Online concert to support her," they wrote.

Just a bunch of lies, NFTs don't need to be used to further support an artist. Sunmi already has a lot of fans who really like her music and personality. Nobody asks or wants this, Abyss is just greedy

And friends like this
While it's a touchy topic in the gaming community, Valve CEO Gabe Newell praised NFTs and discussed the potential benefits of integrating the technology with AAA games.

His company owns digital game distribution giant Steam, and in an interview with Rock Paper Shotgun, Newell was quick to draw the line between NFT technology and current users.

He noted that basic features such as distributed ledgers, digital ownership and shared spaces “are all very reasonable” and should not be ignored:

"You have to differentiate the underlying technology from the players who are using it. It's like if you're a chemist and you look at nitrocellulose and you're like, 'Oh, yes, we can do this with it' Some really interesting stuff'."
"However, people in this field tend to get involved in a lot of criminal activity and sketchy behavior. So, it's more about the actors than about the underlying technology or rationale for what we're doing," he added. .

Thank you for your support, Newell, much appreciated.
